Especially for my Mum

The ship photo I used in making the wallpaper on this page is the 'Wild Deer' which bought my Child family to Dunedin, New Zealand. The ship sailed from England on 30/8/1874 and arrived in Otago 30/1/1875.  Regrettably, I know little of my Child family both prior to departure from England and  the continuation of the family (and it was a large one) in New Zealand apart from my direct line to my Grandfather,       ---where are you all ???

I know little of my Child family history or that of the lives of George & wife 'Victoria' and their arrival in Otago, New Zealand, from Surrey England. George was painter by occupation, according to various certificates. His son (my GGrandfather) had a carrying and taxi business in Dunedin and his sons were co- workers in this business, Photos have been sighted of their horse drawn Cab (and their horse 'Dolly')  and carrier vehicles with 'Child & Sons' written upon them, alas, I have not yet seen them or know their whereabouts.  My Grandfather and his son Conrad were very musically gifted and are pictured here with their band, which by all accounts was a well known outfit in their day.
